WHO IS NEERAJ CHOPRA?
Neeraj Chopra was born on 24 December 1997 in Haryana State. Neeraj Chopra is only the second Indian to win an individual gold for India at the Olympics. The first was is Abhinav Bindra who won gold for shooting at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Neeraj is currently coached by Uwe Hohl, a retired Jerman track and field athlete who competed in the Javelin throw. Neeraj Chopra was born on 26 December 1997 in Kandra, a small village in Panipat, Haryana. Neeraj’s father is a farmer and his mother is a housewife. He was brought up in a joint family with 17 members where he was the eldest of the children. Neeraj has done his studies from Panipat.

How Neeraj Chopra enters into sports
Neeraj once told his father that I have to take Javelin, which costs more than one lakh. He was getting a lot of support from his family but for a farmer, one lakh would have been too much.
After a few days, with great difficulty, his father gave him a javelin. Then after that Neeraj started practicing a lot. He had injured his hand once in the beginning while doing javelin. Still, he did not stop and kept on working hard.
- In the year 2012, when he was 15 years old, he won the gold medal in the athletic championship.
- Then he won the gold medal in the IAAF Championships by throwing 86.41m Javelin.
- After winning this gold medal, he got the job of Junior Commissioned Officer.
- In the 2018 Asian Games, she threw 88m Javelin and won a gold medal.
But at the same time, Neeraj’s shoulder got hurt. Because of that, he could not practice for 2 years. When Neeraj recovered after 2 years, he started practicing again.
